Houston-area students who want to help prevent another tragedy like those at schools around the country traveled to Austin in February to urge legislators to support mental health services like Communities In Schools.

The students are "Mental Health Ambassadors" from Spring Branch ISD’s Memorial High School. This trip allowed them to speak directly with media and elected officials about the importance of mental health support in schools while learning about legislative advocacy. They also attended and spoke at a press conference on the Capitol steps and were recognized from the House of Representatives floor.
